HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Poster Zone a feature on the exhibition floor will consist of up to 20 posters displayed throughout the show and viewable by thousands of delegates.
We will accept submissions that have been presented in the last 12 months at other conferences should you feel you would gain greater exposure at Respiratory Professional Care. Please note on your entry form where and when you have previously presented.
All accepted Poster presenters must attend the congress.
All accepted poster presenters will be offered a free place at the event through a discount code you must advise us prior to the event if you are unable to attend. If you have a preferred day of attendance this must be stated on your entry form.

Application Process and Guidance
- An independent adjudication panel will be convened and will meet in August 2021 to assess the applications and determine abstracts to be presented.
- Authors of all accepted abstracts will be expected to attend Respiratory Professional Care 2021 and will be provided a discount code for access to the conference (the pass will be complimentary for UK delegates and a discounted price will be issued for international delegates).
- The independent adjudication panel’s decision will be final and will not enter into any discussion or correspondence.
- Companies associated with any member of the judging panel are not normally eligible for consideration.
- These rules and notes can be modified from time to time at the discretion of the panel.
Poster criteria
- Your abstract should demonstrate positive and/or an innovative piece of work relating to clinical pharmacy practice and/or patient care. We welcome abstracts relating to service evaluation, clinical audit, quality improvement, and pharmacy practice research.
- Abstract assessment will be based on the quality of abstract, relevance of the project described, the reproducibility and awareness of current NHS policy and practice.
- Please note not conforming to the abstract structure (below) will result in rejection.

You can include a maximum of one image, graph, chart or table.
You must provide relevant justification for ethical approval.
Word count excludes title, authors, subheadings, references and tables/images, etc.
Requirements for submissions of abstracts for Respiratory Professional Care 2021
We will accept submissions that have been presented in the last 12 months at other conferences should you feel you would gain further exposure at Respiratory Professional Care. Please note this on your entry.
It is essential that abstract submissions are set out accurately as they must follow these guidelines otherwise they may be rejected.
Examples of abstracts can be found online on third party websites such as the RPS, UKCPA and EAHP.
The abstract should contain:
- No more than 300 words - this doesn’t include the abstract title, authors names or references, these are on top of the 300 words
- One table or diagram or graph/chart. Data in the form of a table is preferred. Images are not accepted
- A maximum of five references
- A statement on whether ethics approval was required and/or obtained. For example, if the abstract describes an audit project, please state that ethics approval was not required because of this reason.
Data Presentation:
- A maximum of one table or diagram or graph/chart (data presented in the form of a table is preferred)
- All tables must carry a title and be referred to in the text
- Tables must be formatted using horizontal lines only and avoiding the use of vertical lines to separate columns
- Graphs, charts and diagrams are positively encouraged within poster and oral presentations.
References:
- References must be in Vancouver style
- In summary, references must be numbered as superscripts consecutively in the text, and citations in the reference section must be formatted as follows:
- For journal articles: author(s) name(s) and initials (max 3 authors and 'et al'); title of the article; journal title; year; volume; first and last page. Journal names should be in full and not italicised.
- For books: author(s) name(s) and initial(s); editor if appropriate; title of book; place of publication; publisher; year.
Adjudication process:
Each abstract will be judged on the stated objectives, methods, results, discussion, impact on patient care and whether the abstract follows the above guidelines.
