Managing severe COPD remains a key challenge within the NHS, despite improvements in the delivery of inhaled therapy, pulmonary rehabilitation and non-invasive ventilation. NIV plays an increasingly important role in the management of patients with severe COPD. In this talk, we will discuss the evidence behind acute and long-term NIV in COPD, as well as strategies to optimise its efficacy.
