Shielding has been undertaken for a prolonged period by many of our population - and the consequences of this (deconditioning, social isolation and disease anxiety) are being frequently treated at the moment across boundaries as medical deterioration of an underlying pathological process (eg COPD worsening) rather than getting the diagnosis right. This presentation will cover some key tips on distinguishing the predictable consequences of shielding and how to manage this population.
- Understand the evidence base around implications of deconditioning, social isolation and disease anxiety
- Have clarity about how people will be presenting post shielding
- Know common support patheways to help with people who are deconditioned
